It's been a strange time. Closed businesses, empty streets, working and schooling from home, stressful grocery store visits, and not seeing loved ones like normal.
Amidst all of this, you, have been helping your neighbors and taking care of family members, friends, and your students.
As you may know, most of our staff have been working from home for many weeks now while the ATA building remains closed. This means that, like you, our employees are juggling children, homework, pets, spouses, and day jobs. But that hasn't stopped us from managing and administering the pension plans, just as we've always done. However, it has required us to adapt some of the way we do things, including more phone calls, video conferencing, and less paper.
We are working closely with our IT department to offer more options for remote meetings with our pension counsellors, as well as technology that could support webinars and presentations from the comfort of your home. Stay tuned for more information about this in the near future.
We've also made some changes to documentation requirements. We no longer require certified true copies of proof of age documents or marriage certificates. We will accept a legible copy of the document.
Documents that require, by law, completion in the presence of a Commissioner for Oaths cannot be completed by a substitute witness. We will work to find a viable alternative for any member who needs to submit documents completed in the presence a Commissioner for Oaths. For instance, lawyers can also now commission documents remotely. Please contact us if you need more information about this. And as always, stay safe!
