Corporate Accountant

Are you a passionate, bright and highly organized self-starter looking to join a hardworking team in a diversely successful organization? The Alberta Teachers' Retirement Fund (ATRF) is looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team located in Edmonton, Alberta. 

Established in 1939, the Alberta Teachers' Retirement Fund Board (ATRF) has provided exceptional administration for the Teachers' Pension Plans for Alberta for over 80 years. ATRF takes pride in delivering the highest quality service to more than 80,000 plan members.


Reporting to the Manager, Financial Operations, this position is responsible for the preparation, procurement and compilation of financial information to support ATRF's financial objectives. As a Corporate Accountant, strong analytical skills, with high attention to details, are required to successfully prepare journal entries, process receipts and payments, tax preparation, manage collections, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be required to build and maintain positive working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.


This position is temporary in nature with an expected contract of 18 months with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications, Experience and Capabilities:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting
  • Two to four years of relevant experience
  • Experience using Excel, accounting systems (JDE preferred) and applications
  • General understanding of the CPA Canada Handbook and International Financial Reporting (IFRS);  
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks along with exceptional time management
  • Effective and professional verbal and written communications skills
