Your Pension Plans Are Secure

Both ATRF pension plans are fully funded. This means we have the financial strength to meet the needs of all our members—now and in the future.

Contribution rates will stay the same for the 2025-26 school year at 9.29% for teachers and 8.92% for the Government of Alberta. For the past decade, contribution rates have decreased steadily, and keeping rates stable ensures predictability and value for you.

Strong Investment Performance

ATRF’s total-fund return rate for 2023-24 was 6.91%, exceeding our expected return of 6.5%. This strong performance helps ensure the long-term health of the pension plans.

• Long-Term Success: Our 10- and 15-year investment returns continue to exceed expectations, providing stability for your retirement income.
• Planning for the Future: We’ve updated our investment strategies to strengthen growth over the long term. This includes managing risks and opportunities related to climate change to safeguard your pension’s sustainability.
