If you are considering starting your pension during this school year, ATRF has a number of resources available to help you make informed decisions.

Where to Start

The Steps to Retirement and Choosing a Pension Option information sheets will help clarify the retirement process, including which decisions you’ll need to make at each stage of the process.

You can also review the Planning Your Retirement page to understand the pension formula used to calculate your pension, as well as how cost-of-living adjustments increase your pension during your retirement. You may also be interested in knowing if you are eligible to apply to purchase service which increases your pension.

Interactive Tools for Planning

We have several different interactive tools that will help you plan for your retirement including the pension estimate calculator in your MyPension account and the Pension Option Selection Tool that outlines some considerations when choosing your pension option.

Seminars and Webinars

ATRF offers webinars throughout the year that provide in-depth knowledge about your pension benefits and the retirement process.

We recommend attending the Steps to Receiving Your Pension presentation which is designed for teachers that are planning to retire during the current year or within the next few years. It provides detailed information about what to consider when deciding to retire, the steps to retirement process and forms, and post-retirement considerations. Plan to attend at your next teachers’ convention or register on the MyPension portal for an upcoming webinar.
