2024 Cost-of-Living Adjustments - Alberta Teachers' Retirement Fund (ATRF)

Your pension offers inflation protection in the form of cost-of-living adjustments (COLA), automatically applied to your monthly pension each January. COLA is a measure of the change in the Alberta Consumer Price Index (ACPI) monthly values reported by Statistics Canada. Based on the ACPI increase of 3.9%, pensions will be adjusted as follows effective January 1, 2024:

Members with pensionable service prior to 1993 will see their pensions for that service increase by 2.34% or 60% of the increase in the ACPI.
Those with pensionable service after 1992, will receive a 2.73% increase, or 70% of the increase in the ACPI, on their pension for that service.

Plan members who retired during 2023 will receive a prorated portion of this increase.

Your Pension Information Statement will be mailed and available on MyPension in January. This statement will provide your gross and net monthly pension for December 2023 and January 2024.
